RuckTC is a new fitness group in Traverse City, MI and Leelanau County, MI. Our goal is to walk, hike, and socialize while burning a TON of calories. We do group ruck hikes simply with a weighted backpack on rougher terrain to create a more challenging workout. We DO NOT run! We WALK. The amount of weight you carry is specific to your needs. The starting weight is usually around 20lbs. You will gradually adjust the length & intensity of the walk and later we will adjust your ruck weight.
This exercise will bring you back to the true human you were designed to be; the natural hunter & gatherer. We will bring you back to nature's elements and the areas mind-blowing hiking trails. We will show you the best places to get the job done in a fun & casual atmosphere. The best part is you only need to bring yourself! Well-behaved pets are allowed but must be leashed with a 6ft leash or shorter. Children are encouraged to join us with a parent or guardian.
Burns double the amount of calories compared to walking. Excellent active recovery in between workouts or on your off days. Increase your mental clarity and overall body health. Strengthen your legs, glutes, and abs just by walking!
A comfortable backpack preferably with a waist belt if rucking with 30lbs or more. Weights (sand bags, plate weights, kettlebells, etc) that fit tight in your backpack. You may want to stuff some clothing or blankets around your weight to keep them from moving around, however, watch your weight! Adding "fillers" does add additional weight. Weigh bag on a scale AFTER you are finished securing the weights inside.
